Print Making 〰️
Print making was initially developed to spread news, to vocalize opinion, to distribute information. It evolved into a tool to help grass root movements advocate, respond, and spread propaganda. It’s a source of creativity that has a root in production. One must be organized, efficient and clean when working with print making. It takes movement to do Lino Cuts, roll plates through a press, and engage in tedious hours etching. This sometimes makes it seem like a form of creativity that is out of reach. With a little exploration into the basic nature of printing one can engage at home using something as simple as a potatoes. When I integrate printmaking into my art therapy work I often consider the nature of medium, exploring transference, communication, voicing an opinion, understanding how we perceive information and how we explore repetition in our lives.
